Since Australian travel restrictions are mostly delaying our immediate golfing holiday plans, we thought it best to fire up your jet-set inspiration and introduce you to a few domestic golf destinations that are firmly on our travel radar.
The first cab off the proverbial rank is the delightful Rockingham region in the south-west of W.A (approx. 45 minute drive south of
Perth). Famed for its laidback ambience, safe swimming beaches, eco-tourism activities and close proximity to world-class wineries,
Rockingham is also home to a unique selection of golf courses. Affectionately known as the “Golf Coast”, Rockingham is a superb year-round
destination for golfers. With picturesque and challenging courses along the coast, visitors wishing to play a round are assured of choice
and availability.
Whether you make the day trip from Perth or choose a weekend away in a secluded golfers’ paradise is up to you. The latter does sound more
indulgent though, doesn’t it? So, without further ado here’s a brief overview of the best golf courses for social play in the south west.
Rockingham Golf Club If you’re looking to play a game alongside some of Australia’s special wildlife, this is the place. Other players
are often out of view, and it can feel like you have the greens all to yourself here. This facility prides itself on being as natural as can
be achieved in a metropolitan area and looking at its magnificent bushland setting with towering Tuart trees, immaculate
tees, fairways and of course the greens, you know they are doing something very right. The kangaroos love the place too – they’re found
in abundance here and only enhance the exceptional scenery of the course. The Rockingham Golf Course offers many opportunities for ladies
of all ages to discover the wonderful game of golf. This picturesque 18-hole golf course boasts a driving range, putting greens, friendly &
knowledgeable pro shop staff and a fully licensed club house with superb restaurant quality meals. CLICK

Designed by golfer Graham Marsh to reflect the style of traditional Scottish courses such as Muirfield, Turnberry and St Andrews, Secret
Harbour Golf Links features couch grass fairways, second cut fescue grass and beautiful bent grass greens. It is rated in the top 25 public
access courses in Australia and was one of the first in the country to be selected in the premier category of the Great Golf Courses of
Australia (GGA) - an
international marketing partnership between industry and Tourism Australia. CLICK HERE
The Links Kennedy Bay is located at Port Kennedy. This true links coastal course was destined to be the thinking golfer’s cup of tea. It’s an open course that challenges your bunkering ability if caught in sand traps. The Pro’s tip here is that it’s harder to play when the sea breeze comes in around 2 to 3pm, so get out early and enjoy the challenge. Note; a dress code applies to all golfers at the course (with the exception of the driving range). Full Srixon sets and golf carts available to hire. Book via the pro shop to secure your spot.
