With the State flying past the 70% fully vaccinated mark and the 80% mark within reach, Golf NSW is thrilled to announce the resumption of
its 2021 Tournament Schedule.
Beginning November 6th, the time-honoured NSW Country Championship, being held this year at Forbes Golf Club in the State’s west, will
be the first tournament of several to be played in the remainder of the year.
Back on the calendar, too, are the Men’s and Women’s NSW Sand Greens Championships to be held at Nyngan Golf Club on the 21st
and 22nd of November (men) and Coolamon Golf Club on the 27th and 28th of November (Women).
The NSW Regional Open Series, a set of six $50,000 tournaments and a key lead-up to the 2022 Golf Challenge NSW Open, will also begin
in late November.
The opening event of the Regional Open Series, the Murray Open, will be held at Murray Downs Golf and Country Club, getting underway on
November 24th.
Tournament two on the schedule will be held at Dubbo Golf Club beginning November 28th.
Golf NSW intends to play the above events in accordance with the NSW Public Health Orders relevant at the time of each particular event.
In addition to the above tournaments, Golf NSW is working with clubs to resume the popular Master Pennant competition, which was in its
final stages when the latest lockdown began.
Graeme Phillipson, Chief Operating Officer, Golf NSW, was pleased to announce the return of some sense of normality with the State’s
championship calendar.
“For regional communities dealing with the impact of COVID-19, by staging events like these, we are bringing some normality back to
their day-to-day operations.
“And with today’s announcement that NSW Borders will re-open from November 1st for fully vaccinated visitors entering the State,
this is particularly timely.”
After being postponed due to COVID-19 in June, the return of the six-event Regional Open Series is an especially welcome addition to the
domestic golf scene for many of Australia’s best golfers, both pro and amateur.
Three-time PGA Tour of Australasia winner Jordan Zunic said the tournaments were welcome additions to the calendar.
“At the moment, pretty much anything to play in is great,” Zunic said.
“With the year that’s been, this is some light at the end of the tunnel for the guys; Something to start preparing for.
“This will boost the morale of a lot of professionals around to see these events Golf NSW has put on,” he added.
